88 KEYS Foundation: Piano Donation Program

Multiple sources cited by The National Association for Music Education link early music exposure to a higher rate of success in society, school, and life itself. Music is an essential part of childhood learning. The presence of a piano in a school classroom creates the potential for ongoing music education as well as for exposure to high-quality musical experiences through the community outreach programs of local and national performing arts presenters offering a wide variety of music, theater and dance programming.

The 88 Keys Piano Donation program facilitates the donation of privately-owned pianos in good working condition to K-12 public schools, and maintains a “Key by Key” donation program through which individuals and corporations can purchase a single piano key or 88 keys for an entire piano.

"Here is a picture of the Visual & Performing Arts students at Venture Academy with the piano donated by the 88 KEYS Foundation. The picture was taken the morning of our annual Dinner Theater performance on April 4, 2009.  The show is completely run by the students with teachers and staff as facilitators. Students greet guest, serve and prepare dinner, provide an hour of
performances including theater, choir and dance performances.  They also run all the sound and lighting equipment.  It was a wonderful show and it all centered around our magnificent Piano.  Thank you again for providing our Academy and our students with this gift.  Our show choir has been able to practice more and at a higher level.  This opportunity and months of hard work led us to take 1st place in our division at the Heritage Festival in
Anaheim."
